With this CV I wish to be considered for the advertised position. I am a recent graduate of Concordia and deeply respect its academic orientation and inclusiveness towards a diverse population. I have performed a wide variety of medical and administrative duties which have a direct correlation with your advertised position. As a PAR (Patient Account Representative) and PAS (Patient Account Specialist) I was expected to demonstrate a knowledge of medical terminology and procedures while maintaining strong patient advocacy within a wider medical context. The PAS in particular required: taking initial vitals at triage (blood pressure, height/weight etc); collecting and entering demographic and financial data in the patient’s electronic medical record; assembling and maintaining physical charts within specific departments; validating insurance information and obtaining authorization for services; scheduling appointments and procedures (MRI/CAT/X-Ray/chemo/day surgery etc); collecting co-pays, co-insurance and prior balances; ordering in-house lab work and tests; validating accuracy of labs/meds including chemo and I.V. therapy; corresponding with other teaching hospitals/specialists on authorized research projects; liaising with health care professionals within the wider community. All of my previous medical and administrative assignments have required compassion, critical thinking, strong customer service skills, an unflappable demeanour and an ability to work quickly and meticulously within high volume/volatile situations.
