Respiratory problems such as respiratory distress syndrome, hyaline membrane disease, meconium aspiration syndrome, transient tachypnoea of new born, bacterial pneumonia, apnoea, late onset of aspiration, persistent pulmonary hypertension of new-born, pneumothorax etc.

Infant with blood disorders such as neonatal anaemia, polycythaemia, bleeding and clotting problems, infant with blood transfusion.

Babies with Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia who needs phototherapy managements or exchange transfusion

Infant with CNS disorders such as neonatal seizures, meningitis, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, prenatal asphyxia, intracranial haemorrhage etc.

GIT problems such as necrotizing enterocolitis, vomiting, neonatal diarrhoea and bloody stools

Babies with congenital disease.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Acting as a senior staff nurse, taking on increase responsibility within the unit, delegate’s appropriate task to nursing assistants assuring the patients are assigned to an appropriate caregiver.

Supervises & orients junior colleagues in the unit, guiding their practices and supports their knowledge in adherence to the Hospital’s Standards of Practice.

Reports untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical injury and drug administration error as details in the Hospital’s Policies, Protocol & Guidelines.

Identifies and discuss patient’s needs with the health care team, prioritize needs and ensures team work in the unit.

Prepares and administrate medication according to doctor’s order and Hospital’s Drug Medication & Administration Policies & Observes for side effects.

To manage the ward in the absence of ward supervisor.
