We also are losing caregivers to other agencies that are now paying more than we pay. We have always been somewhere in the middle but now at $18.00 we seem to be on the low end of the scale. We do pay $20.00 if our registered caregivers work for VCH but now even that seems to be too low if you're registered. Currently our competition is paying in the range to $18 - 22 depending on skill set or so it seems from our most recent research I know this is down the road conversation on a bigger level but we have an opportunity for 3 assessments coming up and another community 24/7 and I am really wondering if we will be able to staff them. I am currently having to offer extra hours to certain clients just to get someone there. If VCH emailed me today I would have to turn them down which breaks my heart. I just want you to know as I am sure this is the never ending story in all of the other provinces as well ,but we do need to address wages and pay for skill in order to keep our clients and grow the business.
