Tim has asked me to loop you in so that you can let Chandani know that she needs a medical note from a doctor. I have asked Irin to hold off on the ROE. It's also my assumption that there is some malingering happening. Please let me know if you would like to have a call with Dennis and me. Regards, Chuck In Alberta, a physiotherapist does not have the authority to provide a medical leave of absence directly. Medical leaves of absence, including those due to illness, injury, or other health-related reasons, typically require a medical certificate which can only be issued by a physician or nurse practitioner. According to the Alberta Employment Standards Code, employees can take up to 16 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave if they provide a medical certificate stating the estimated duration of the leave. This certificate needs to come from a medical professional who is licensed to practice medicine or a nurse practitioner, not from other healthcare providers like physiotherapists. However, a physiotherapist can play a role in supporting this process by providing information or assessments to the physician or nurse practitioner who would then issue the appropriate medical documentation.[]( https://www.alberta.ca/long-term-illness-injury-leave)[]( https://www.alberta.ca/job-protected-leaves) [image: Alberta.ca]Alberta.ca Long-term illness and injury leave Eligible employees can take up to 16 weeks of leave due to illness, injury or quarantine. Due to an Injury, I have had to take the last 2 days off work as sick days, I had an assessment done again today, and was advised to be off work for recovery for the next 6 weeks. I am attaching the note for your review, if I could please get my ROE submitted to Service Canada for me as well as a copy for me as this is a MVA injury and my lawyers are also needing a copy of this to put on file. I would appreciate it if my personal matters are respected and not shared publicly to anyone on the team as I take the steps I need to, to focus on getting better and returning back to work as early as possible. Thank you. --=20 *Kind Regards, Chandani Patel * *Employee Care Manager / Human Resources* of Calgary, Alberta & Winnipeg, Manitoba *_____________
