For the sake of se= curity and seeing how things are going, I have installed 2 nest cameras in M= um=E2=80=99s apartment. >=20 > I was familiarizing myself with the app last night and saw Marlyn helping M= um to bed. I was slightly shocked by what I saw - it appears that Marlyn has= limited understanding of our mother=E2=80=99s injuries, and how to move wit= h her =E2=80=94 to get her into bed, she lifted her by her armpits. This is t= errible for Mum=E2=80=99s shoulders, especially her right shoulder which is s= till healing from being fully separated. Our Mum is usually helped to bed by= using her cane, turning and using the bar on the side of the bed, so she ca= n do as much on her own as possible. Marlyn then gave Mum her meds in bed wh= ile she was not sitting with great posture (due to the hoisting) with water,= at 9:45PM, which is not optimal. Marlyn is sweet with Mum, so this is not a= n admonishment or signal of cruelty or the like =E2=80=94 just clear that so= me additional education and sensitivity to helpful ways to move with Mum/old= er/injured people might be beneficial for both Marlyn and Sandy. The sedenta= ry behavior that we have been concerned about is a 2-way street from what I s= ee in the video feed thus far. Brittany has offered to do some basic movemen= t training with both Marlyn and Sandy next week. I am interested to know how= we can help Marlyn, Sandy and Lezele. Anna and I have not worked with an ag= ency before, only private aides, and are following your lead.=20 >=20 > Additionally, Sandy left Mum this afternoon for a few minutes to see about= replacing some too-large fish oil tablets that I asked Sandy to change for M= um at the pharmacy in the building. I happened to check in with Mum and lear= ned that she was left eating cookies. She can aspirate easily on crumbly foo= d, so it=E2=80=99s better for her to have cookies with someone around just i= n case. Nothing happened, but again, it shows us that perhaps Sandy doesn=E2= =80=99t fully understand the swallowing issues that Mum has.=20 >=20 > I have typed pages of detailed helpful hints and info and put them on the c= aregiver bulletin board in Mum=E2=80=99s apartment, and showed them to Sandy= and Marlyn. We hope the team will read and actually take the information on= board, and improve and change some of these behaviors.
