More importantly, your agreement states that = unplanned work must be approved by the customer and you never discussed = any of this with me. I=E2=80=99m sure you can appreciate my surprise = when I got your last invoice which put the cost some 20% over budget = (not including the sprinkler system), especially when you originally = said you felt confident that you would come in under budget. I=E2=80=99m aware that I have a responsibility to pay any justifiable = costs but you also have a responsibility to stand by your quote unless = there are added costs and you advise me at the time. Right now I=E2=80=99= m prepared to split the difference and pay you a 10% premium versus = budget. Alternately you can do the exercise of fully breaking out the = costs, including labour and compare that to the original quote, = including a justification by each item as to why you under quoted. Ewan this doesn=E2=80=99t diminish the quality of your work and the = finished project which is excellent and I want to thank you; however = your quote was the reason we chose you in the first place.
