This was the first year we organized a day in honour of the man who = inspired his son and grandsons to work so hard to enhance their community, = and our larger Schlegel Villages Family responded in many different ways. W= e saw Villages create handmade cards and bake cookies as gifts to first res= ponders and health care workers in hospitals, while others organized park c= lean-up days. It was all about giving back to the community, and Ron Schleg= el noted how proud he was to see this take place. =93This is so fitting,=94= Ron told our Chief Operating Officer, Paul Brown, =93and my father would b= e so happy and honoured.=94 GLENDALE CROSSING RETIREMENT OPENING We are still on track to open the retirement side of our London village at = end of October. We are excited to expand on village life in that area of th= e province. IPAC Please note that as we move forward into the fall, we may have to reimpleme= nt mask requirements or other interventions as the need arises to enhance t= he safety of our residents and team members where we may see significant ou= tbreaks or outbreaks of a concerning nature. Please let your team members (entering our villages) know to ask about the = status of the Village they are visiting and follow the interventions implem= ented and remember, please do not visit village(s) if you are experiencing = any kind of symptoms. Across the country, federally-regulated businesses will close, as will many= others, but at Schlegel Villages our doors are always open and our teams, = residents and families are encouraged to come together in the spirit of lea= rning and education. The knowledge, wisdom and experience of First Nations,= Inuit and M=E9tis peoples must continue to guide the people of Canada, for= without them the nation will remain directionless. We must learn from the = past, as difficult as it may be, in order to build a more equitable future = for all, regardless of age, ability, background or heritage. As an organization, we have started the process of developing permanent lan= d acknowledgements for each of our Villages. With 18 diverse territories an= d multiple treaties to acknowledge, this will be a great undertaking and we= will be thoughtful and methodical. Celebrating our Internationally-Educated Nurses The people team and each of our Villages continues to do a remarkable job i= n recruiting new
