We plan to do this on a monthly bas= is, or more frequently if needed. As we look ahead to August, we have just = a few things to share. Infection Prevention and Control It has been wonderful to see all the smiling faces in the Villages since th= e mask mandate was lifted, and we=92re beyond grateful to say that COVID-19= cases have been sporadic and contained in recent weeks. We appreciate the = time you and your team members are taking to ensure IPAC measures are follo= wed when in our villages. The IPAC working group is closely monitoring relevant data from Australia's= flu season, which is a reliable predictor for North America's upcoming fal= l/winter. The prevalent organisms remain the same as last year, namely RSV,= Influenza, and COVID. Despite minimal COVID-19 cases within our community,= we recommend visitors experiencing respiratory symptoms stay home. We'll c= ontinue to provide updates as new information emerges. Boat for Hope A mix of team members, residents, families and friends sailed the Toronto H= arbourfront in early July for the third iteration of the Boat for Hope fund= raiser. With the support of several generous sponsors, this year=92s event = raised more than $35,000 for the fund, which is used to support team member= s facing financial hardship. Many thanks go to all the organizers, attendee= s and the many sponsors who helped make this such a wonderful success. Plea= se take a moment to read this story about the impact the Wilfred Schlegel H= ope Fund has for team members facing some of the most challenging of times.= https://schlegelvillages.com/news/strength-community-through-wilfred-schle= gel-hope-fund Wilfred Schlegel Day =96 August 7 The Civic Holiday weekend is a time to enjoy all that mid-summer offers in = Ontario, but it=92s also a time for Canadians to reflect on the importance = of working together to build stronger communities. It is a fitting time for Schlegel Villages to mark Wilfred Schlegel Day, in= honour of the man who inspired his son Ron and grandsons Rob, Brad and Jam= ie to strive every day towards the betterment of their community. It was 70= years ago that Wilfred bought the Schlegel family=92s first home to care f= or and support older adults, and the family=92s commitment to others has on= ly grown stronger over the decades within Schlegel Villages and other aspec= ts of business and philanthropy. Wilfred Schlegel Day is meant to launch a month of giving back to the commu= nity, and Villages are encouraged to follow through on a variety of in
