RE: 31265_TheKey Calgary postcards printing

Hi Sardar,
I haven’t been paid for the first job as yet.  The cards are printed and we are ready to inkjet but they will not be mailed until we get the money transferred to our account. As to the second one we are getting a new proof as there were changes made to the artwork.

Thanks for your patience with my response.  I had reached out to Canada Post to see if I could manipulate the taxes within their system and I just heard back.  My contact said:



Hi Susan,

The taxes are applied to the order of the mail induction so if you are inducting in Ontario the Ontario taxes apply. The only way to get around this would be to Deliver Direct to Depot in Calgary.



When we generate the Statement of Mailing (SOM), we have to pay 13% on postage because we are in Ontario.  See the preview statement below for the upcoming mailing of 4,500.  I will pay Canada Post that and we do not mark up postage.



I’m happy to charge you 5% for both the postage, data, print and mail processing.  I will be paying 13% on the data we buy for you, the paper we buy for your postcard print and the postage being in Ontario, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter to me as I pay tax and I collect tax so if I collect less from you, I pay less to the government as my collection is always greater than my spend.  All good.



Please let me know if you’d like us to proceed with buying the data for 4,500 when ready.

If we’re buying lists to reach a specific demographic, that takes Canada Post 5 to 7 business days to get to us as they don’t work fast unfortunately. So, if the intended target is the same as the first 3 cities we’re doing, we can place our request into Canada Post to get that started for Calgary or any other new campaign.  We can print while we wait for the data then once we get it, we can personalize all within 1 day.



So to launch it asap, we should request data soon once you confirm counts and the city.  We also need to prepare the invoice as we need to have postage prior mailing.  We can set The Key up with terms for the data and processing but postage is always paid up front since stamps are like cash and we do not mark up.



Hope that makes sense and looking forward to working on this next one!
