About 2 years ago we looked at some of the RPM companies and compared them here (Lifeguard was not one of the companies unless they rebranded but one of the companies was a vayyar sensor company). Our franchises have been in a pilot with one of the companies, Sensi.ai (they are audio based, which I had reservations about). It might be good to reach out to Michelle Boehmer now that some of the offices should have had about a year of experience with Sensi to see what learnings they have. Sensi I know changed their pricing model so it was a flat rate to offices regardless of how many units were deployed. I am curious to learn more about Lifeguard. Overall my questions to these types of company are typically around: 1. sensitivity/specificity: many of them have very cool algorithms for everything from depression, to fall risk, to UTI but how accurate are they and do they have data around false positives/false negatives? 2. what information do they have to provide to clients/families worried about privacy? 3. who handles tech issues? who handles training? who handles client onboarding/install? 4. internally, we want to discuss our workflow once we have the data and potentially loop in legal. Unless this is a service entirely outside of TK, once we get into the position of collecting the data we need to discuss how we handle information like potential fall risk, or UTI (e.g., let's say a fall algorithm showed a client was at moderate risk over the past day from minimal risk and later that night they have a fall, we might be liable in terms of having health information that we did not act on). 5. The pricing is something out of my expertise but something that always came up in the meetings re: are we bundling the cost into an "oversight" package for clients or charging them monthly/annually specifically for this service; if they are also receiving care is it different? Overall, I love the idea of these types of technology and I know there are many companies out there doing this for older adults right now. I do think there is a space for older adults who may not need care in the home but who may benefit from this tech-enabled oversight (anecdotally, I know many adult children are especially bullish on this idea). Older adults not wanting it in the home and/or not wanting to pay for it seem to be the biggest pain points.
