It appears the following setup has been in place since prior to my hire on 10/22/2022: Calculation Method Used for all Locations (Excluding Montreal): Statutory holiday pay is calculated based on the total regular wages earned in the four work weeks preceding the holiday week, divided by 20. Overtime is excluded, but vacation pay is included in regular wages. - Example: If an employee earned $2,000 in regular wages plus $80 in vacation pay: ($2,000 + $80) =C3=B7 20 =3D $104 stat pay per holiday. Note: This flat amount has historically been paid regardless of whether the pay period contained one, two, or three holidays. Calculation Method Used for Montreal Locations: The above calculated amount was multiplied by the number of holidays that fell within the pay period. - Example: If the calculated stat pay is $104 and the pay period includes two holidays, the total paid out is $208 ($104 x 2). Given that government websites suggest statutory holidays are paid per holiday and not per pay period, could you please confirm if we should continue using the current calculation methods, or if a change is required to align with regulatory requirements? Your prompt response is greatly appreciated as this will ensure we process our first 2026 payrolls correctly. I have attached the relevant government website for your reference. https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/publi= c-holidays?utm_source Best regards, *Germaine Daniels* Director Payroll | TheKey Email: germaine.daniels@thekey.com Mobile: 562.784.1800 --0000000000008fbed406476c6b21 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi Teio and team, During = our review of the new Ceridan pay groups for the Canada amalgamation, I nee= d clarification on the appropriate calculation method for employee statutor= y holiday pay moving forward.
