Hi Timothy,

"Hi everyone,

In August 2021, Home Care Assistance (HCA) introduced the Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy for our Support Team and Internal Field Office exempt employees. Since that time, we have received very positive feedback on the new policy and there are certain aspects of the policy worth going over again. For the six-month anniversary of this policy, we want to take a moment to reshare the policy with everyone and to remind you of the key best practices and things to know when using Flexible PTO.
* All Flexible PTO requests should be submitted by the employee and approved by their direct Leader through the Bamboo HR system prior to the time away (unless there are extenuating circumstances).
* Ideally, a two-week notice wouldπd be provided in advance of the first day off and a month’s notice for extended time away. This will allow the Leadership to ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the duties of the team.
* Due to staffing needs, not all requests may be honored. It is up to each Leader to approve or decline Flex PTO requests based on the needs of the office. Leaders must track pending time off for their teams and make approval decisions that ensure the needs of the office are met if someone is out on PTO.
* Flexible PTO will not substitute for a formal leave program such as a State’s short-term disability program.
* When preparing for a traditional leave of absence (e.g. FMLA), please contact the Benefits Team in advance of the start of your leave.

While this policy affords our employees more flexibility to take the time off to recharge, it is important that all exempt employees follow the above best practices to ensure the program will be successful well into the future."
