We regret to report that 3 residents on the 3rd floor have tested positive for COVID-19. We now meet the outbreak criteria defined by Public Health, and declare the 3rd floor to be in outbreak for a minimum of 5 days. The following precautions will be in place: RESIDENT ISOLATION AND TESTING * Residents who have tested positive and have symptoms must remain in their suite for a minimum of 5 days. If their symptoms have been resolving for at least 24 hours after their isolation period, they can wear a mask and leave their suite, with the RPN's approval. * All 3rd floor residents will have twice-daily temperature checks and will be asked to report any symptoms immediately. * Symptoms could include fever (or feeling feverish), chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue or tiredness, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle pain or body aches, headache. * Any close contacts can be rapid-tested. If symptoms are present, or if they test positive on a rapid test, a PCR test will be done. Please ask the RPN for a rapid test. * Residents on the 3rd floor who are not symptomatic will not have to isolate, but must wear a mask when out of their suite. DINING * Tray service will commence for all residents on the 3rd floor until further notice. This includes both isolated and non-isolated residents. * Residents on all other floors may continue to have meals in the dining room. * Please note that trays must be left in the resident's suite, and not moved to the hallway or another common area. * Garbage must be discarded in the designated garbage container located outside residents' suites. ACTIVITIES * Residents on the 3rd floor may go outdoors and walk around within the community wearing a mask, unless they are COVID positive and/or are isolating. * We ask that residents from the 3rd floor not sit and visit with residents on other floors, or attend activities, until the outbreak is declared over. * Residents on other floors may continue to participate in scheduled activities. VISITORS * Visiting for isolated residents on the 3rd floor should be limited to essential visits (POAs, caregivers). * We ask that general visitors not visit residents on the 3rd floor at this time. * We encourage general visitors to take non-isolated residents on the 3rd floor out of the building to visit. As always, please let us know if you have any questions. Please note that email Updates are sent only to residents with a personal email address on file, and to the POA for Care for Sunshine residents.
