Hi Kristal, Thank you for this update. As of today, I have not been able to reach Ramandeep. Can you tell me if the correct contact number for her is 506-899-6481? Without camera footage or the involvement of local law enforcement, the only thing outstanding in this case is Ramandeep's statement. Following this, I will be able to close out the investigation but, unfortunately, it does not look like we will have much resolution. With the son mentioned the government PSW as a suspected party, we will not be able to substantiate our caregiver's involvement-- barring Ramandeep making an admission. Is there any further support you need in handling next steps? Hi Chantal,

I followed up this week with the son, Jeff. He mentioned that his mother, Valerie, is "okay and not traumatized" but will like to continue holding services until further notice. The money has not turned up yet but they only suspect the OHaH PSW considering she is there for "a shorter period of time and greater opportunity to do this". He believes waiting a couple of months before reaching out is feasible.

 Their services remain on hold.

 Hi Chantal,

Thank you for your prompt response. Please see below:

Are there cameras in the home?- Not currently

When was the money last confirmed to be in the wallet, and when was it first noticed missing? Unsure, but the client reported "a couple of days now" on Thursday Feb. 19

Who had access to the home during that specific timeframe? Three parties are involved: the government PSW, TheKey PSW, and a neighbour

How much money is missing, and is that amount exact or estimated? Approx. $300-$400 so its est.

Where is the wallet normally kept, and was it moved or disturbed when the money was discovered missing? Unsure. According to our PSW it was out on the coffee table with bills under it. It could be in her purse at times. Her son Jeff may be able to get more details on this tomorrow.

Has a police report been filed or does the family intend to file one? No

Hi Kristal, Thank you for escalating this concern. We will lead investigative efforts with the caregiver. First, can you tell me if you have any of the following details?

 Hi HR and Chantal,

I wanted to put you on alert that I received a call this morning from a client's son (Jeff Varah) claiming his mom (Valerie Varah) reported missing money from her wallet.

 Background
She started services with us on January 28, 2026. 89 years old, cognitively intact, lives at home alone. Support comes from the government (once per week on Tuesdays), TheKey (three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and occasionally from her neighbour. She has had the same PSW, Ramandeep, since the start of care.

 Investigation with son
Received a call from son, Jeff, who wished to hold services because Valerie feels a little violated at this time. I sympathized and assured him that we will launch an internal investigation. He mentioned that Valerie and Ramandeep have a great working relationship and they both have a hunch that the government PSW may have something to do with this. Valerie believes that the money has been missing "for a couple a days now." Nevertheless, we lead unbiased and I told him we will hold services until the investigation is complete. We agreed to touch base on Monday or Tuesday.

I reassured him that Ramandeep is a reliable and ethical worker, and he agreed. I also suggested that he is welcome to have cameras in her home setup for her and his security. He will look into it.

 Investigation with caregiver

Ramandeep was informed about the situation, and the case is currently on hold. Ramandeep's last shift with Valerie was Wednesday Feb. 18th. Ramandeep mentioned that she saw her wallet with bills on the floor a couple of weeks ago. She asked Valerie about it, and Valerie disclosed that she occasionally pays her neighbour for groceries. Unsure of the neighbour's name or how often he/she frequents her.
