I will send you a copy of the Cook County Sick Leave Ordinance in the morning. Employees are eligible to earn up to 40 hours in sick leave/PTO each year. I believe they earn 1.25 hrs for every 40 hours they work. They are to be paid whatever they would have earned for the shift they missed. Meaning if a caregiver had a 12 hour shift in which they were paid $20 per hour and have 8 hours of Sick Leave available they would be paid 8 hours at $20 per hour. This year Illinois updated its policy to be similar to Cook County but altered it to be more like PTO in which the employee can choose when and how to use their earned time. We continue to pay Sick Leave for the items covered by the Cook County ordinance because it is still the rule in Cook County but we are also paying when a caregiver requests time off and asks to use their sick time. Does that make sense? Thanks, Diane On Tue, Aug 27, 2024 at 5:05 PM Timothy Thomas wrote: > I don't see any reference to PTO or vacation pay.
