Good Afternoon Supplier Partners
We mentioned in a previous email we would no longer be sending out covid communications however, we did find the regular communications with partner to be helpful, so we will be sending communications to share some of the initiatives that are underway or upcoming. We plan to do this on a monthly basis, or more frequently if needed. As we look ahead to August, we have just a few things to share.

Infection Prevention and Control
It has been wonderful to see all the smiling faces in the Villages since the mask mandate was lifted, and were beyond grateful to say that COVID-19 cases have been sporadic and contained in recent weeks. We appreciate the time you and your team members are taking to ensure IPAC measures are followed when in our villages.
The IPAC working group is closely monitoring relevant data from Australia's flu season, which is a reliable predictor for North America's upcoming fall/winter. The prevalent organisms remain the same as last year, namely RSV, Influenza, and COVID. Despite minimal COVID-19 cases within our community, we recommend visitors experiencing respiratory symptoms stay home. We'll continue to provide updates as new information emerges.

Boat for Hope
A mix of team members, residents, families and friends sailed the Toronto Harbourfront in early July for the third iteration of the Boat for Hope fundraiser. With the support of several generous sponsors, this years event raised more than $35,000 for the fund, which is used to support team members facing financial hardship. Many thanks go to all the organizers, attendees and the many sponsors who helped make this such a wonderful success. Please take a moment to read this story about the impact the Wilfred Schlegel Hope Fund has for team members facing some of the most challenging of times. https://schlegelvillages.com/news/strength-community-through-wilfred-schlegel-hope-fund

Wilfred Schlegel Day August 7
The Civic Holiday weekend is a time to enjoy all that mid-summer offers in Ontario, but its also a time for Canadians to reflect on the importance of working together to build stronger communities.
It is a fitting time for Schlegel Villages to mark Wilfred Schlegel Day, in honour of the man who inspired his son Ron and grandsons Rob, Brad and Jamie to strive every day towards the betterment of their community. It was 70 years ago that Wilfred bought the Schlegel familys first home to care for and support older adults, and the familys commitment to others has only grown stronger over the decades within Schlegel Villages and other aspects of business and philanthropy.
Wilfred Schlegel Day is meant to launch a month of giving back to the community, and Villages are encouraged to follow through on a variety of initiatives, large or small.

Shady Pines Fundraising Campaign
When the Schlegel family first bought the land for Shady Pines campground outside of Ailsa Craig in the 1970s, they pictured a place where people could escape the bustle of modern life and reconnect with the peace and tranquillity that can only be found in nature.
In 2016, the Schlegel Family once again took ownership of this space with the intention of creating two, fully-accessible cabins and the accompanying infrastructure to ensure that no matter a persons ability, a place in the wonderful outdoors is available to them. We have already had many of our residents visit the campground for daily/evening activities. They express so much joy in having participated in camp/campfire activities. Some dont want to leave at the days end. Eventually the space and cabins will be open to more than just our village residents in the future. We look forward to when our residents and others in need of accessibility can use the accessible friendly atmosphere for day use and cabins(to be built) for overnight stays. We will commence capital fund raising activities for the two cabins in the months to come. More to share in the future on this.

Grandparents Day Card Campaign
Grandparents day is marked on Sept. 10 this year, and were going to build on the success of our previous card campaign this year. Loved ones will be able to order cards for grandparents and grandparent-like folks in our Villages throughout the month of August.

*If you do not want to receive these types of communications going forward and/or you think other should also receive these updates from your organization, please advise

As always, thank you for all you do to support our villages!
Take care,
Schlegel Villages
