Angie asked me to send this email to all of you.
Angie and I just had a conversation about skilled services and particularly
in NJ. We have uncovered here in NJ that we will have to get Private Duty
Nursing accreditation (thanks Kim G) in order to take on the level of
skilled services expected with our new initiative to grow the skilled side
of the business.
We then talked about PA for example. We are not regulated in PA. Our Home
Care license is pretty straightforward and I have a good contact in the PA
Board that has guided me in the past as to what a caregiver can and cannot
do in PA. For Daughterly Companions to perform Skilled Services in PA, we
would need a Home Health license. We used to have that license at
Daughterly and we gave it up as it was an intense license to hold and we
barely made any money in private pay.
It would behoove all of us to make sure we truly understand the
regulations of our states especially when it comes to offering skilled
services. For example, Jay, Mass is not a regulated state but can you offer
skilled nursing services under your Home Care license? Is that permitted?
Something you may want to check.
