Cupid Crew – Spread the Love to Residents and Staff at your Top Senior Living Community this Valentine’s Day!

For the past four years, our Sales Team/HLCs and other employees have been part of Cupid Crew (https://wishofalifetime.org/events/cupid/) , a nationwide movement started by AARP's charitable arm, Wish of a Lifetime, to connect with older adults at risk of isolation--and send them love. This has brought so much joy to residents at senior living communities, and is something that we are excited to continue this year!

To form your own local “Cupid Crew” this Valentine’s Day, here is what you should do:

1. Contact your #1 senior living community and reach out to the Activities Director or other contact you work with regularly. Explain that you would like to hand out roses and cards (optional) to residents on Valentine’s Day to bring some joy to their day and let them know you/TheKey are thinking of them. You will want to get a count of residents so you know how many roses and cards you will need. If they will allow you to deliver them in-person to residents that would be ideal, but if not, set up a table/pop-up tent outside and see if the residents can pick up their roses/cards there. If the pop-up outside is also turned down, then you can offer to give them to staff to deliver to the residents.

2. Order roses from your local florist and make sure they are de-thorned before delivery. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they will sometimes give away day-old flowers for free, so that is something to look into if it applies to your market. Contact your local Trader Joe’s at least a week in advance to see if this is something they do, and if yes, how many flowers would be available the day before Valentine’s Day. If it’s not something they do, this still gives you time to order flowers elsewhere.

3. If you opt to include cards, you can easily create them on the Cupid Crew website here (https://secure.aarp.org/applications/user/customSubscribe?promo=WOLCUPID&referrer=https://wishofalifetime.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Cupid-Crew-Card-2023-WOL.pdf) . It’s up to you if you want to sign these with other members of your team (it’s a nice touch!). You should give each resident a card with their rose.

4. Wear TheKey shirts and take lots of pictures/videos to post on LinkedIn. If you aren't allowed inside, ask if residents could come up to the windows with roses where you could take a "selfie" or have someone else take the photo. Invite other members of your team who can support you and the event and help take photos! You can also take pictures outside the community.

Strategies for Breaking into New Hospital Accounts and Expanding your Business in Existing Hospital Accounts!

Last week, Claudia Cook, MSW, and Regional Business Development Manager in Chicago, IL, shared some great ways to build your business in hospitals on our B2B Weekly Toolkit call. If you weren't able to join, listen to the recording here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1znhNFB4OCAw3c_rjxqJKPbc375254qGn/view) . She comes on around the 15-minute mark.

We also reached out to some of our Rockstar HCLs who dominate this channel to get their insight and strategies/best practices. See what they shared below:
* Power Partners - working with the home health and hospice liaisons who are in with your hospitals. Leverage them to get into the hospital if you can't!
* Weekly Pipeline Meeting - asking if we have any clients or assessments within our Hospitals. This is your chance to have a purposeful reason to be in the hospital. Follow your clients to the hospital!
* Bio Cards or business cards with your photo are great in the hospital. Be your own brand ambassador, and become a recognized staple among the hospital staff!
* Spend half a Saturday every other month in your top hospital. Why? You meet different staff members and your competitors are not there! Great tip, Kevin S.
* Meet the 72-Hour Observation Unit - they want to work with dedicated and capable liaisons just like you to help prevent readmissions!
* Acute Rehab Units - ask if they have their own home health and/or hospice. Target their liaisons to have these conversations and uncover if there is a need for a home care provider like TheKey to help their patients.
* Sell TheKey Concierge Nursing if you have this in your market (CA, FL, MD, and VA).
* Get involved in their associations and the hospital foundation! The foundation is a great way to meet people and have conversations off the hospital floors. You can also join or get involved with your local ACMA or CMSA chapter -- help them build membership, sponsor a lunch, etc.
* Which SNFs do your hospitals feed? Reach out to your SNF contacts about their connections with hospitals/case managers and ask for warm introductions.

March is Social Worker Month -- Start Planning!

It's not too early to start planning a recognition event for social workers at your top hospital(s). Whether it's sponsoring a breakfast or lunch, or even teaming up with your hospice or home health partners to provide a special meal, start the conversation and get something on the calendar!

Read more about Social Worker Month here (https://www.socialworkers.org/News/Social-Work-Month) .
