There are a couple of issues:
It would be printing black on dark green and not ideal for the demographic you’re targeting.
We cannot inkjet 2 sides as the inkjet system cannot duplex print (print 2 sides at once). We’d have to inkjet all 10,500 on one side, then flip over and print all 10,500 on the other side. If there is a jam in the inkjet printer, we have to be extremely careful when we begin again at the correct record so that the name on the front matches the name on the back. Any blip and we’re screwed and yes that’s a technical term.
I do think at this point, the card messaging is strong, compelling and easy to read and the postcards are printed. It would be ideal to send as is and going forward, variably digitally print all names as requested. If we can move forward, that would be great.

So, I checked different early correspondence that was specifying the inclusion of the first name on at least 3 different occasions. I should have emphasized this more during our validation process, the designs shared by us definitely did not help to avoid this confusion. As mentioned earlier, I've never worked previously on the printing projects in Canada, the mistake is on me and I'm not blaming you for this.
Now, in order to move forward and find a solution to this situation, can you please let me know:

Hi Sardar,
Please show me where you “discussed” that as all has been through email and we have never spoken. I have reviewed the emails and do not see where you mentioned that, nor was that included in the artwork. I was told to buy data with names and that we would variable print 1 colour black onto the postcard where the white area resided, which we have done and how it was quoted. If you wanted that, your artist needed to include <First Name> in the artwork above the “test your brain health” then provided the font. We also would not have printed offset as that is a variable digital job and required a new quote. (I do not think there’s even enough space on the art to accommodate a name based on your font size and spacing.) See below and as you’ll see, the name would have sat very close to your logo. We also sent through a proof for review and it was approved to print which we have completed. If a name was supposed to be included, that should have been advised and the press proof should have been rejected. We offset printed 10,500 postcards already as requested and quoted.
We have not printed Calgary yet so if you’d like to add the name to the front of the postcard, please ask your artist to rework the file and send the art with the <First Name> field in the art + the font package. I will also need to requote and it will be more than the budgeted $4,000 since it’s variably digitally printed 2 sides which is a more expensive process than offset printing bulk and inkjet printing the name and address to the white box.

The taxes are applied to the order of the mail induction so if you are inducting in Ontario the Ontario taxes apply. The only way to get around this would be to Deliver Direct to Depot in Calgary.
When we generate the Statement of Mailing (SOM), we have to pay 13% on postage because we are in Ontario. See the preview statement below for the upcoming mailing of 4,500. I will pay Canada Post that and we do not mark up postage.
I’m happy to charge you 5% for both the postage, data, print and mail processing. I will be paying 13% on the data we buy for you, the paper we buy for your postcard print and the postage being in Ontario, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter to me as I pay tax and I collect tax so if I collect less from you, I pay less to the government as my collection is always greater than my spend. All good.
Please let me know if you’d like us to proceed with buying the data for 4,500 when ready.

If we’re buying lists to reach a specific demographic, that takes Canada Post 5 to 7 business days to get to us as they don’t work fast unfortunately. So, if the intended target is the same as the first 3 cities we’re doing, we can place our request into Canada Post to get that started for Calgary or any other new campaign. We can print while we wait for the data then once we get it, we can personalize all within 1 day.
So to launch it asap, we should request data soon once you confirm counts and the city. We also need to prepare the invoice as we need to have postage prior mailing. We can set The Key up with terms for the data and processing but postage is always paid up front since stamps are like cash and we do not mark up.

* Card printing (both sides, matte): 5,000 cards - 9x6. We are finalizing the print designs.
* Postage for 5,000 cards
* Database rental from CP: 5,000 names and addresses for a personalized mailer (70+ audience). We will confirm further if we need to narrow it down.
