"**NY and NJ Important Update: NY and NJ Vaccination Requirements for Caregivers/Direct Care Workers**
The Covid-19HR team would like to inform you of an important update regarding New York and New Jersey’s vaccination requirements for caregivers/direct care workers. While the state of [New York](https://www.health.ny.gov/facilities/adult_care/dear_administrator_letters/docs/dal_23-09.pdf) has not officially rescinded the vaccine mandate, the government will no longer enforce the Covid-19 vaccine mandate. Separately, [New Jersey](https://d31hzlhk6di2h5.cloudfront.net/20230612/1f/5e/f5/5a/dddb6928fb248cc8b80b5fd7/EO-332.pdf) has lifted the Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
**The updated regulation means that caregivers/direct care workers no longer need to submit an accommodation request for vaccines and boosters and are no longer required to provide proof of vaccination unless it is a requirement from a community setting such as Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care Unit, etc.**
**How does this impact you & the caregivers?**
* New hires in New York and New Jersey are no longer required to upload proof of Covid-19 vaccination and do not need to submit an accommodation request. However, TheKey prefers caregivers/direct care workers to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
* Caregivers are still required to wear a N-95 mask and proceed with N-95 fit testing if caring for a Covid-19 positive client.
* OSHA still requires all Covid-19 positive cases to be reported within a 24 hour period. Please continue to follow the current process of reporting cases via the Covid-19 positive documentation form.
* Caregiver/direct care worker job descriptions will be updated to reflect the changes.
