Yesterday, the Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Ministry for Seniors and = Accessibility issued new masking directives for us to follow as we face the= respiratory illness season that will come into effect by Tuesday November = 7th Based on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the following e= nhanced masking measures for non-outbreak situations are being put into eff= ect in our long-term care homes, and we will follow the same measures in re= tirement homes: * Team members, students, support workers, and volunteers must wear a m= ask when in resident areas indoors (Supplier Partners are classified under = Support Worker) * It is strongly recommended, but not required, that visitors and careg= ivers wear a mask in resident areas indoors, except when with the resident = in the resident's room or when eating or drinking with a resident in commun= al spaces. If a resident in a shared room is uncomfortable with others remo= ving their mask, homes are encouraged to designate a space to enable the ro= ommate to have visitors without masking. We have seen an increase in outbreak levels and while according to the prov= ince, it is projected that COVID-19 activity may peak in the next few weeks= , around the same time it is anticipated that seasonal illnesses of influen= za and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) will rise. These updated masking requirements will remain in place until further direc= tion from the ministry. Masks will be available in our villages. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our residents and team members as= safe as possible.
