In review of my 'ratio' of Caregiver applicants, those that 'know the requirements' of looking for work in this Industry therefore come with the applicable P. Check already in hand. Those that don't are usually seeking 'first-time employment' in this Industry or Country (most common for us are of Asian/Philippine descent having received their Nursing Degrees in India/Philippines and are here on International Student work Visas). In my territory, Peel Regional Police/Ontario Provincial Police have direct access into the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records and while turnaround used to take up to 2 weeks, it can now be done within the hour or on the spot, so this aspect does not delay their immediate employment and/or getting them on-boarded and into a care role, particularly if/when you advise them it is mandatory to have before they can work for you. We simply provide a (form) Letter for them to obtain same (I've attached a sample). How long does it take Sterling to obtain a check for you ? (vs. a Caregiver taking to local Police to source their own) and is it that Sterling can't provide 'Vulnerable Sector', you haven't asked them or that they won't? Is there other value-add of their service to you? Has a Caregiver ever advised that they cannot afford to obtain one? If not, might want to experiment at taking the 'we'll pay for it offer' off the table to see if it is even missed? (certainly a plus to have that savings going forward). I'm of two reasons for not using a supplier and/or paying for them: 1. additional administrative time/managing the relationship with another Vendor; 2. additional expense - Caregivers can use this Check anywhere/with any other employer (should they go on to. or also work for other employers) - I'm not interested in supplementing that. Hope this clarifies.
