Chatter Notes: Ana found TheKey online while doing research for her
parents. Her father, Armando (70), suffers from MDS (a group of disorders
where the bone marrow fails to produce enough healthy red blood cells white
cells and platelets) and has experienced an accelerated decline over the
past two years. Armando requires regular blood transfusions, sometimes as
often as once or twice per week. This has taken a lot out of him and his
gait has become unstable. Ana's mother has been Armando's primary caregiver
but has reached a point where she needs help. Ana's original request was
for a male caregiver (not a deal breaker) to provide compassionate,
supportive care from 12pm-7pm daily. Armando will require transportation to
and from transfusions, personal care, assistance with showers, dressing
assistance, ambulation assistance / fall prevention, medication reminders,
light housekeeping, and comforting, compassionate engagement. We reviewed a
rate range of $36 to $40 per hour.
