As part of our continuous efforts to enhance the efficiency and ensure the well-being of our employees, we want to make sure everyone is up to speed on the latest and greatest best practices to streamline the claims process and provide the best support possible to our employees. Here are some updates & tips to keep in mind: - No More Self Reporting - With the new TPA model, employees are no longer able to self report their injuries. Instead, if an employee is injured, they must notify their supervisor immediately. - Claim Initiation Process - Supervisors play a critical role in initiating the claim process. Supervisors must call Gallagher Bassett immediately after the injury has been reported but no later than 24 hour= s. We=E2=80=99ve provided a cheat sheet to help you gather the necessary information before making the call. The supervisor will also need to know their office ID/location code as liste= d in the hierarchy org chart which you can find here . - Medical Emergency Protocol - In cases of medical emergencies, such as severe injuries or accidents, employees should be directed to call 911 o= r seek immediate care at the hospital. - Approved Medical Providers - All offices have an approved list of medical providers. We=E2=80=99ve distributed these medical panels to all= offices, and they should be visibly posted. Additionally, we=E2=80=99ve added the= medical panel cards on Workplace for easy on-the-go access. When an injury is reported, please provide the injured employee with this list to ensure they seek treatment from an approved provider. This is especially important in the mandatory panel card state= s of CO, VA, TN, GA, and PA. If we don=E2=80=99t provide the employee with= the panel card at the time of injury, we will lose the ability to direct care, whi= ch could result in significantly higher claim costs. - Nurse Triage Services - If an injured employee requires assistance from a nurse, the supervisor needs to inform the claims intake manager during the initial report. They will schedule a call between the injured employ= ee and the sure to provide additional support and guidance.
