I would like to express my opinions regarding this issue as I am a regular HCA staff in North Lodge and my statements might be useful in your investigation. First of all, compared to other homes that I worked, the duties of North Lodge are a bit tedious. Nobody will teach you what to do(although a year back, when I first went for a shift, they provided me training on the personal care), I learned the kitchen duties(9-9shift) on my own. Also, I learned from their staff that many HCA staffs are sitting idle and or refusing their duties( eg. one HCA staff refused to do housekeeping cause she believed that she is only for personal care, another one refused to feed a resident named =E2=80=9CDerrel =E2=80= =9C). Since the community is so small, news tends to spread fast if anything happens. I don't have any personal complaints against the staffs. All of them were nice to me, although nobody will help me in my 12 hour shift which I dont expect cause Kitchen is my duty. I once complained to the counsellors about staff dumping their personal dishes in the sink. The counsellor, named Alison was so nice to me and she put the notice for all the staff to do their personal dishes. They are supportive of me till now( which may ,of course, change at any moment). When I first took shifts there, I felt like an outcast. But with more shifts, they were becoming nice to me. I found out that HCA staffs are complaining against NL staffs cause the latter excepts us to do everything irrespective of our familiarity in the house. I do have complaint regarding Sreelekshmi, she always find wrong in what I do. I am legally entitled to take break after 4 hours of my shift, but she insists that I should ask her before leaving for break.I asked the counsellors about it, they said I am free to do so. And i am disappointed by the fact that nobody is helping me in the kitchen if they are sitting watching the TV. But I sat and watch TV, they except me to help them. I hope this helps.
