If she fails to submit she cannot as a result, stop paying us. Are we still suspending services? *Yes, we are suspending services as of Tuesday Dec. 24. The reason for this is the complexity of Tanzil's care. He is bedridden with muscular dystrophy= , has a tracheostomy and a feeding tube. Due to this, it would be negligen= t of us to suspend services without enough runway for them to arrange and = get alternate support in place. I have sent an email to Nimra stating this, = and that we will require a credit card on file moving forward due to the substantial outstanding balance on her account and the inconsistent paym= ent history. I have also called her and left a vm to this effect and spoken = to her brother Kashan.* - What is LIHN and how does submitting invoices to them impact their financial obligation to pay? *The LHIN - or more correctly Ontario Health at Home (they recently changed their name) is the government body that manages home care. One of the programs they offer is called Family Managed Care. With this model, the government gives the client a set amo= unt calculated by the amount of hours that they have assessed the client is entitled to, multiplied by the regulated annual rate set by the governme= nt for such services. These monies are deposited into an account that must = be set up specifically for this program by the client and can have no transactions other than those approved by OHaH. The amount invoiced must also match exactly the amount that is deposited. If it is too low, OHaH will adjust the amount allotted to the client to reflect the actual care being provided/billed. If it is over the allotted amount, OHaH can refus= e approval and, if it is a recurring issue, can suspend financial support.= It is for this reason that Nimra requires accurate invoices. * - Did someone send those invoices to them, or do we still need to do that? *Yes, Michelle Hudgins has sent them multiple times, most recently yesterday. However, Nimra has flagged one that still has the statutory holiday pay on it (the government does not pay 1.5x on statutory holiday= s as they see it as "double-dipping"). If we can get that corrected and se= nt to her, this would eliminate any further obstacles to payment. For everyone's information, I have gone over the billing requirements for th= is client in person with my scheduling staff, coached them on the correct billing practices and underscored not only why this is important, but al= so the knock-on effect of not diligently auditing billing rates, hours and mileage claims. Namely, an accrued balance of over $20k by the client.* Let me know if you have any questions, comments an
