I do agree, break times can be changed to before or after the lunch period so it doesn't interfere, especially if that's what they are assigned to help with that day. However, feeding, encouragement with meals, serving and dishes are one thing to help with in the kitchens/lunch period but I'm not sure we should really be preparing meals for the whole facility especially if we aren't sending someone with their food handlers. Beth please let me know how your conversations with North Lodge go, and we can work on our end to make sure our staff are clear on their role, and the expectations. I do think having a particular person our staff are supposed to report to is important instead of all of their staff trying to give direction. I think it could also be helpful (If it's possible) to get a clear idea from North Lodge upon getting shift requests on what our staff are going to be needed for that day (i.e. housekeeping duties, kitchens, one-on-one, PSW floor shift, etc). This way we can manage expectations for our staff and the home right off the bat.
