Here's the framework we used for both talking points and the letter. --- Recently the Provincial Government passed Bill 148, Fair Workplaces Better Jobs Act You may have read about it, as there has been a lot media discussion around the increased minimum wage. There are other requirements in the Bill which will have an effect on how we work and provide care for your family. In essence there is 21% increase in costs associated with wages as the law is implemented on January 1. We are not asking for you to take on that increased burden but we are increasing our rates while doing everything we can to absorb as much as possible. Beginning Jan 1, your new houlry rate will be XXXXXX which represents an increase of XXXXX % We reassess our fees on an annual basis - this time around it happens to be a slightly larger increase due to the implementation of the new laws and I do know that all businesses in our industry and beyond are affected. As you are very new to HCA we will not be implementing any changes on your account until the end of the 1st quarter of 2018. There are also changes to how we operate - for example as part of the bill there is now a 48 hour deadline on shift cancelations. We are very supportive of this as we want our staff to have as much certainty about their work as possible. So what that means is that we will be implementing a cancelation fee of a minimum of three hours for any cancelations under 48 hours.
