I believe Shyanne had to sign a new agreement for her position, but that would’ve been done by HR, not me. I can ask her if she has any documentation on her position as on-call.I’ll speak with Shyanne and let you know how it goes. For Shyanne to have her hours cut back, she would have to let some of Vancouver go. I’m not sure how Sharon would feel about that. Sharon, can you comment you could have Gagandeep trained for Vancouver?ChuckChuck Terlesky B.A., CCPE General ManagerCalgary, AlbertaOffice Calgary: 403-301-3777---TheKey.caOn Jul 21, 2025, at 6:51 AM, Kathryn Nester <knester@thekey.com> wrote:Is Shyanne under an employment agreement for so many hours / days? Also does anyone have a copy of her updated agreement / job description for on-call. The only thing in her workday file is for staffing and CGM. Thanks,KathrynOn Mon, Jul 21, 2025 at 9:37 AM Timothy Thomas <tt@thekey.com> wrote:Thanks Kathryn,Chuck, can you speak with Shyanne and let her know that we will need to cut back her hours and work Gagandeep back into the rotation. I would recommend reviewing budget, performance, structure etc. over 60-90 days following her return in order to make an objective and informed decision. I will consult with our legal team on what may be considered the least risky paths forward for a separation. I agree that it may make the most sense to have Gagandeep take over one office/area specifically. I know she was part time but what days/times was she working previously?Shyanne is also working 7 days a week which can lead to burnout. This may be a good opportunity to check in with Shyanne and see if she wants/needs a break at all. Thanks,KathrynOn Fri, Jul 18, 2025 at 9:36 AM Timothy Thomas <tt@thekey.com> wrote:Chuck, I think your suggestion makes the most sense. I would think that we need to offer her the same hours she had prior to the leave. Monday to wednesday might not be sufficient. Please advise Kathryn.ThanksOn Thu, Jul 17, 2025 at 5:29 PM Chuck Terlesky <cterlesky@thekey.com> wrote:Hi All,As you know, Gagandeep is scheduled to return from maternity leave on August 5th. In speaking with Kathryn, it was clarified that we cannot proceed with a termination immediately upon her return. Kathryn advised that she remain with us for 60 to 90 days prior to any potential termination.
Gagandeep was originally hired as a part-time employee, and on average, she submitted around 22 hours per week. Currently, Shyanne manages the on-call for Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver, with her focus on Vancouver on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
To accommodate Gagandeep's return during this transition period, we’ll need to identify where her support would be most effective. One option could be for her to cover Calgary and Winnipeg on Monday through Wednesday, allowing Shyanne to focus fully on Vancouver.
Another consideration is the compensation structure. Shyanne is currently paid a flat rate, while Gagandeep has been paid hourly. Kathryn (cc’d here), can you confirm if there is an option to offer Gagandeep a flat rate as well?
Looking forward to your feedback on how we should proceed, and Kathryn, if you could offer any suggestions. Regards,Chuck-- Chuck Terlesky B.A., CCPEGeneral ManagerCalgary, AlbertaCalgary: 403-301-3777TheKey.ca
