Ceridian confirmed that if we do not have a physical location (office) in NS, and we pay out of Ontario, the caregivers will be taxed at Ontario rates and will have to make an adjustment at year end. In terms of worker's compensation, I spoke to WCB (NS). In order for our employees to be covered, we would need to have an account created in NS and then have Ceridian link to it to make remittances for those employees. Having said that, the caregivers are NOT currently physically working, as the client is in hospital. They are being paid an amount since they were supposed to have been working and we don't want to lose those caregivers, should the case start. In this case, there is no real risk for them. I spoke with Timothy and we think it's probably best at this point to pay them out of Ontario and when they start to physically work, we can get the WCB account going, etc. HR for those caregivers would have to advise them that they will be paid/taxed out of Ontario. *Sandra Daoust * *Finance Manager - Canada* Tel: 514.907.5065 | Fax: 514.221.4265 sdaoust@homecareassistance.com | Homecareassistancemontreal.ca --000000000000c5421e05e092729b Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable + @Lindy Quintyne and others =C2=A0 From: Sandr= a Daoust < sdaoust@home= careassistance.com > Sent: Friday, June 3, 2022 2:21 PM To: Timothy Thomas < tt@homecareassistance.com >; Gary Scott < gscott@homecareassistance.com >; Shameema Ca= dersaibe < shameema.cad= ersaibe@thekey.com > Subject: Nova Scotia client/employees =C2=A0 Hi al= l, =C2=A0 I have been on the phone with several resources (Ceridan, WCB NS, etc.) = to discuss=C2=A0how to handle the payout for the caregivers working in Nova= Scotia.
