If not, please take a few moments to read the article below. These measures have been hinted about over the past few months and will come into effect over the near future. The practice of using Facebook Business pages to promote (non-paid) business-related content to a page's followers is about to change greatly. In a nutshell this practice will no longer be an effective communication/promotional tool. Facebook is facing complaints that there are too many ads in the newsfeed. The easiest way for them to remove the perceive clutter is to give less prominence or shift elsewhere non-paid business posts. If you want to promote a business message in the future, paid advertising will be the route to take. Our team is monitoring this and will keep you posted on any developments. Our initial thoughts are: * 'sales-driven' posts should be eliminated from your social content plan sooner than later * "engagement" baiting posts (i.e. win tickets) should be stopped sooner than later * Many of you offer non-business related content that does generate engagement with your followers. It will be interesting to see how Facebook treats this activity. As the article states Facebook focus is on compelling content that engages dialogue and actions between people - not pages and people. We already thinking of new tactics that you may be able to implement. We will talk through them internally and share with you when we have an understanding if they fit the new Facebook world. We will follow up on this topic next week. Please feel free to call. Mark January 11, 2018 News Feed FYI: Bringing People Closer Together By Adam Mosseri, Head of News Feed Video: https://www.facebook.com/facebook/videos/10156988765141729/ Facebook was built to bring people closer together and build relationships. One of the ways we do this is by connecting people to meaningful posts from their friends and family in News Feed. Over the next few months, we'll be making updates to ranking so people have more opportunities to interact with the people they care about. Mark outlined this in a post today. What is the update? Today we use signals like how many people react to, comment on or share posts to determine how high they appear in News Feed. With this update, we will also prioritize posts that spark conversations and meaningful interactions between people. To do this, we will predict which posts you might want to interact with your friends about, and show these posts higher in feed. These are posts that inspire back-and-forth discussion in the comments and posts that you might want to share and react to - whether that's a post from a friend see
