Hello/Bonjour! We found your company’s information on-line and are impressed = with its mission and approach. My wife and I live in downtown Montreal (not far from your Westmount = office!) and we are looking for daytime care this summer for my elderly = mother. She will be with us from late June to late September = (approximately 3 months). She is 81 years old, in good general health = currently. She had a stroke 3.5 years ago, which limited her = independence due to a very mild difficulty with balance (not a fall = risk, but sometimes a little unsteady when going up stairs or walking on = uneven surfaces outside such as sidewalks with cracks/breaks). She also = has some lingering effects on her short-term memory (slight = forgetfulness about activities or remembering if she took her meds, = which is why we prefer not to leave her completely alone during the day = when she spends the summers with us, and while we are at work). She = takes blood pressure medications for mild hypertension, and a low-dose = anti-seizure medication as a preventative measure as she is more = sensitive after her stroke to the possibility of a convulsion if she = gets a low sodium level (this has happened in the past so she takes a = little extra sodium daily to prevent this, as well). My mother is a quiet, thoughtful, dynamic woman who is very young at = heart, and with a vast life experience (she is a retired physician, a = writer, a musician; she’s originally from India, and lived = through independence and her family was even friends with Mahatma = Gandhi). She has lost a bit of her physical autonomy after her stroke, = which does irk her, but she has adjusted and takes her slight = limitations in stride and with generally good humour. And she is working = hard to retain and improve her independence, willing to exercise, do = mentally challenging tasks, and engage in creative endeavours that she = enjoys. She is multilingual, fluent in English and Bengali (her two = native tongues), and can also speak Hindi, Sanskrit, and has a tiny bit = of French too! With this information in hand, we are wondering if we could find someone = through your company who could spend weekdays during work hours with my = mother during her stay with us this summer (this would likely amount to = approximately 40 hours per week). Ideally we could find someone who = could speak English AND Bengali, for a bit of cultural connection, but = we know that is hard to find! So that is not at all a requirement, just = a possibility. Any information that you could give us would be greatly appreciated. We can be reached via e-mail, or on my cell: 514-892-5741. Thank you so = much for your time. Warm regards, — Shuvo Ghosh (& Andreea Gorgos)
