In Ontario, we have a government program called Family Managed Home Care (FMHC) and the rate for this is set every year by the government. Currently, the rate is $47.02 which is substantially higher than our band of $39-$42/hr. Trevor (POA) understands the need to raise the live-in rate though and has asked us to bake the hourly increase into the live-in rate. I did the calculation, and a revised live-in rate of $411.24 would compensate for leaving the hourly rate as is. Here is the calculation: $48.90-$47.02=3D$1.88/hr x 42hrs=3D $78.96 $78.96/5 days live-in=3D$15.792/day $15.792+$395.45=3D$411.24 Currently, this client bills for $3875.96 weekly and has been a client since August 28, 2023. Fyi, the hourly rate set by the government is scheduled to be revised for CPI in December and should translate to an hourly increase of approx. 2.4%. Thus, going into Jan 2025, this client will have an effective rate increase of approx. 5.2%.
