The assessment went well. Janet, who is 96 years old, is still able to walk with a wheelchair and get up on her own without assistance. Apart from undiagnosed dementia, Janet maintains relatively excellent health for her age and does not take any prescribed medications, though she occasionally takes spinal injections every 3 months and she takes Tylenol to manage her pain. In the past year, she experienced two falls that led to fractures in her hip and back, for which she has been receiving spinal injections. She resides with her son Brad, along with Brad's wife and two daughters. Sadly, Janet does not recognize her son as Brad in the morning, but in the afternoon she does. Brad would like to set up on-going care for his mom so she can visit his very sick mother-in-law out of state. If possible, he would like to begin on October 20th. They require 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday, and I have provided them with a quote of $45 per hour. Janet will need companionship, light housekeeping, driving her to her appointments, safety oversight, and engaging with her daily; she said at times she feels lonely.
